These Etymotic Research ER20 earplugs are great for when you need to block out noise but still hear music or anything else around you, like at concerts. Regular earplugs just muffle all sound. These block sound, but still let through speech and music. Strange, but they work.
Usually about $10-$12 for two earplugs. Amazon has them for $7.47 with free slow shipping on orders over $25.
